Frequently Asked Questions

Here you find the answers of the questions we get asked the most.

Is the jacket warm? Can it be used as a fleece or cardigan?

Yes it’s light, flexible & provides the same warmth as a typical tracksuit jacket.

Can the jacket fit & layer underneath my main overcoat?

Yes the jacket itself is quite thin & fits & layers under most overcoats easily.

Is the lumbar support height adjustable & will it move out of position?

Yes you can set the the air cushion to one of three different heights and no it will not move out of position as it’s attached to the jacket and will only change position with the jacket itself.

Can the degree of lumbar support thickness be adjusted?

Yes the air capsule cushion can be easily inflated with the use of a small concealed pump to your desired thickness at any time. This customisation is one of the key features of the product.

Is the jacket as comfortable as a normal jacket

The material used is extremely comfortable and has a smooth lining that all users describe as extremely comfortable on the skin.

Is it washable?

Yes the jacket is washable but you must unclip and detach the air capsule & pump first.

Is the product guaranteed to cure my back pain?

Back pain is an extremely complicated phenomenon, and in most cases is multifactorial in nature. There is likely not one specific cause of someone’s back pain. However, most individuals find that variation in sitting posture has a beneficial effect. If in doubt as to whether the product is suitable for your specific situation, check with a medical practitioner first.

Is it actually based on science?

We know that there is no perfect posture that is protective of back pain, nor is there a particular posture that is inherently injurious. Studies have shown that there is even poor agreement between physiotherapists as to what constitutes ”good posture” (O’Sullivan et al., 2012). However we do know that increased variability in posture can decrease back pain incidence (Bontrup etc al., 2019). Therefore, we believe that using an external device to frequently alter the posture of the spine is an evidence-informed and scientifically-based intervention in the prevention and management of low back pain.
